Anne Labrutto, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene on Princeton Avenue, where her car veered off the road at about 6:30 this morning, police said. Preliminary investigations indicate that a medical episode might have triggered it.

According to investigators, Labrutto's 2009 Kia Spectra left the westbound side of the street,  hit the curb and continued into a fence, stopping on the breakdown lane near Navajo Trail and flipping onto the driver's side.

Detours were set in place while emergency workers removed her from the vehicle. Members of the Laurelton Fire Company, township Emergency Medical Service staffers and MONOC paramedics assisted police.

The crash site was processed by the Ocean County Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Unit, and members of the county Medical Examiner's office were called upon as well.

Police seek information that will help them formulate conclusions for the incident. The Traffic Safety Unit can be reached at 732-262-1140.
