A Toms River man confesses to working as an unregistered contractor and submitting a fake insurance certificate in Monmouth County in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

Shane Wood, 49 pleaded guilty to fourth degree charges of Uttering a Forged Instrument and Failure to Register with the State Division of Consumer Affairs in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold on Monday.

Acting Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni said Wood was arrested in July after an investigation by the Superstorm Sandy Fraud Task Force revealed he gave a general contractor that he was sub-contracting for to provide roof repair work, a fake Certificate of Liability Insurance document for his company, Reliable Roofing and Siding. The general contractor notified the Task Force.

Wood is scheduled for sentencing on February 21st, when prosecutors will recommend a probationary sentence conditioned upon 364 days in the Monmouth County Correctional Facililty.
