Man Killed Crossing Route 9 In Forked River

A Sea Bright man is dead after being hit by a car while crossing Route 9 in Forked River.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says the unidentified 57-year-old stepped into traffic outside of a pedestrian crossing zone when he was struck by a Mazda after he paused in the middle of road and then continued to cross into traffic.

The driver, who went with the victim to Community Medical Center in Toms River,  is not being charged and was not impaired.
