Dennis Cleary, 30, was given first aid for minor injuries after his truck was knocked off the road and into the stanchion and box by a car turning across traffic, according to police.

At about 4:30 PM, Cleary was eastbound on 70 in a 2011 Ford Ranger. Martin Sporn, 90, of Whiting, began negotiating a left turn from the westbound side of the highway to reach Manchester Boulevard.

Police said that Sporn's 2014 Toyota Prius hit the pickup on the driver's side, and Cleary lost control of the truck.

The equipment was out of order for several hours, prompting police to issue a Nixel warning.

Quality Medical Transport technicians treated Cleary at the site. New Jersey Department of Transportation workers tended to the electronic gear.
