Marine enlistee charged in Joint Base sex attacks

A young U.S. Marine enlistee from Fort Dix risks life in prison if convicted of federal charges for alleged sexual attacks on two young women at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Michael C. Taylor, 19, was arrested by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service at the Marine base in Pensacola, Florida, according to information from the office of New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

Investigators say that Taylor was a military dependent living in housing at Fort Dix at the time of the alleged incidents on March 15, 2014.

Taylor forced the women into sex acts, and one of them into sexual contact, investigators said.

His indictment carries three counts of aggravated sexual abuse by force, each punishable by a maximum lifetime prison term and $250,000 fine. There are also two counts of abusive sexual contact, wich carry possible penalties of up to 10 years in prison and fines as high as $250,000.

Taylor's initial court appearance took place in a federal courtroom in Pensacola Friday morning. An arraignment is to take place in Trenton at a date yet to be determined.
