The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says Hazlet police arrested 43-year-old Ronald Schroeder on Monday and charged him with aggravated arson.

The 43-year-old Union Beach man is accused of torching the Hazlet Township First Aid Unit 1 building on Sunday night.

Authorities say an investigation determined that Schroeder was the only squad member inside the building at the time of the fire. He was also seen leaving the building.

Prosecutors say Schroeder has only been a member of the volunteer organization for a "short period of time."

He's being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $100,000 bail, with no 10 percent option.

It's unclear if he has an attorney.
