Public housing authorities in Asbury Park, Middletown, Highlands, Keansburg and Long Branch are among 12 in Representative Frank Pallone's (D-6) district sharing in $1.29 million of federal funds for operating and management costs.

Housing authorities Carteret, Edison, Highland Park, New Brunswick, Highland Park, Perth Amboy, South Amboy and Woodbridge complete the list in line for aid from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), according to information released today by Pallone's office.

"This funding will provide necessary support to public housing developments throughout our District," Pallone said in a prepared statement.  "It will allow our local Housing Authorities to maintain these developments and continue to provide affordable housing to residents.

HUD's Office of Public Housing Investments oversees distribution of funds to more than 3,000 public housing authorities nationwide, involved in operating more than 7,000 housing complexes, officials said.
