It was a routine service call for a stalled car in Stafford Township, until police took a closer look. Now, two Monmouth women face a litany of charges, led by drug possession.

Kavonne Sanders, 21, of Asbury Park faces three drug possession counts along with a charge of driving with a suspended license. Police said that she was also the subject of three warrants.

Sofia Johnson, 29, of Eatontown, faces four drug possession charges, including intent to distribute, and a count of resisting arrest.

Police said that officers on patrol found the idled car on the grass median near Route 72 and South Union Street on Sunday, at about 1:35 AM, and discovered heroin, oxycodone and drug-related items inside.

Sanders was transferred to Hazlet police in lieu of bail. Johnson was sent tothe Ocean County Jail in Toms River, with bail set at $100,000 by Municipal Judge Damian Murray.

Patrolmen Marc Povlosky, Robert MacFarlane and Joseph Luna conducted the arrests.
