Ryan W. Dawe of the township arrested before daybreak today after being found in the garage of a house, with items stolen from it in his possession, said police.

A report of someone rapping on house doors on Glenview Drive reached police at about 2:20 AM. Officers Kevin Redmond and David Marino spotted a home with an open front door and checked inside, finding Dawe and valuables in the garage.

During processing, investigators connected Dawe to a second house burglary and two car burglaries reported on Monday night, August 8, police said.

At headquarters, Dawe tried to flood the cell by plugging the toilet, police said.

Dawe faces two counts each of residential burglary, car burglary and theft, plus a disorderly-persons charge for the toilet incident. He was placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Charges are accusations. Defendants are considered innocent unless, and until, found guilty in a court of law.
