Mickey Major, 54, of Howell Township, pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice, according to information from the office of acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Grammiccioni. As part of his plea bargain, he's agreed to permanently forfeit public employment.

Major dispatched drivers in the Special Citizens Assisted Transport (SCAT) fleet and also coordinated fares with reports turned in by drivers. In 2014, county investigators began examining records for evidence of theft.

Detectives arriving at the county transportation department on Center Street in September 2014 found shredded documents and no sign of Major. He admitted shredding fare envelopes that bore amounts logged by drivers and driving away.

His sentencing is scheduled for September 11 in Freehold.
