Light snow is falling across New Jersey starting and will continue into the afternoon.

The National Weather Service expects a brief period of heavier snow early in the afternoon and again after 3 p.m. roughly along the Route 1 corridor that will deteriorate conditions on the roads.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Sussex, Warren and Hunterdon counties until 5 p.m. where 2-4 inches of snow is expected covering roads and reducing visibility.  Approximately 1-2 inches will fall along the Route 1 corridor with less than an inch for the shore, according to reports.

The speed on the New Jersey Turnpike has been lowered to 45 MPH between exit #1 (Delaware Memorial Bridge) and exit #8 (Cranbury) due to blowing snow. The Garden State Parkway has a reduced speed of 45 MPH between exit #105 in Eatontown and the New York State border.

Newark Airport has delays of 1 hour while Philadelphia has 2 hour delays according to the website FlightAware.com.

A warm-up will accompany the snow as temperatures could reach 30 degrees, the warmest since Monday.

As the snow comes to an end by evening winds will turn back around to the northwest with wind chills plunging back to near zero by Saturday night with some widely scattered snow showers, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday will be partly sunny with temperatures in the 20s.
