Tuesday will be a cloudy, cool, and damp day with light to moderate rain expected all day.

Here are your weather headlines for Tuesday, June 2, 2015...

Another Rainy Day

The radar looks much friendlier this morning, as yesterday's heavy rain, warnings, and flash flooding have subsided. Our atmosphere is losing its ability to produce the heavy, steady, convective rain that have plagued the state over the past two days. Today's precipitation looks to be limited to the light to moderate range in intensity, accompanied by cloudy skies and overall damp conditions. The thick clouds and the rain will keep temperatures cool, only in the 50s for most of the state all day. South Jersey might touch 60° briefly today - a far cry from yesterday's warm, humid 80s.

Bottom line... You'll need to keep the umbrella and jacket handy all day today.

Staying Cool & Unsettled

Normal high temperatures for early June are in the upper 70s. For the next several days, temperatures will stay well below normal (by 10 to 20 degrees) thanks again to clouds, rain, and an overall cool and dry airmass that has now fully arrived in the Garden State. The cold front that delivered that cooler air is expected to stall just south of New Jersey and provide a continual focal point for showers.

Frankly, Wednesday looks mostly dry for New Jersey, with just a few showers or sprinkles possible. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, temperatures will remain cool, and the overall weather picture will still be pretty yucky.

On Thursday, a weak storm system looks to bring us more widespread, yet scattered, showers. The convective indices are low, so I'm keeping thunder and heavy rain out of the forecast.

The Weekend Ahead

I'm happy to say that the early peek at the first weekend in June looks good! A few showers may linger into Friday morning before significant clearing to partly/mostly sunny skies by Friday afternoon. Temperatures should respond by recovering to near-normal levels, with highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday looks even warmer, as high pressure builds in and keeps rain chances away. Highs will be mostly in the upper 70s on Saturday, but I wouldn't surprised to see a few 80° readings.

A few extra clouds for Sunday and a shift of that high off-shore will bump temperatures down slightly, to the lower to mid 70s. If this partly sunny forecast holds, it really should turn into a beautiful spring weekend across the great state of New Jersey.
