Much of the Jersey Shore woke up Friday morning to thick fog.

The National Weather Service issued Dense Fog Advisory for all of Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, Cumberland and Cape May counties as well as coastal Burlington counties until 10 a.m. Visibility was reduced to a quarter-mile in many areas and the fog was expected to remain in place through much of the morning commute.

"You’ll obviously want to slow down if you’re driving through one of these pea soup spots. As the sun rises and as the wind increases to 10 to 15 mph later this morning, the fog should dissipate earlier rather than later," said Townsquare meteorologist Dan Zarrow.

New Jersey Fast Traffic's Bob Williams said the best way for drivers to get through the fog is to use their low beams.

"High beams will just light up the fog," said Williams, who also advises leaving more distance than usual between you and the car in front of you and to slow down.
