New Jersey’s "Safe Summer 2012" Kickoff
This Thursday, June 14 the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs will bring its “Safe Summer 2012” task force to Atlantic City, in order to help ensure a safe, fair, and fun environment for visitors. The “Safe Summer” event will take place from noon until approximately 3 p.m. along the resort city’s world famous Boardwalk.
There will be inspections of games of chance, any game in which players pay for the chance to win a prize, such as the claw game, tossing balls at targets, water gun games, stop-and-go wheels, and the many others found in Boardwalk arcades and stand-alone stalls – by the Division’s Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission, which enforces New Jersey’s Amusement Games Licensing Law to ensure the fairness of regulated games.
Hi-tech equipment will be used to test whether toys and other small items, offered at Boardwalk shops or as game prices, contain lead in violation of Federal guidelines.
As a unique, Atlantic City addition to this “Safe Summer” initiative, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority’s Boardwalk Ambassadors will join the investigative teams from Consumer Affairs and other agencies, enabling them to continue this enforcement and educational effort into the future.
