Firefighters in Somerset County are mourning the loss of a 33-year-old lieutenant who was killed Wednesday in a motorcycle crash.

The Country Hills Fire Department announced the death of Lt. Kevin McMorrow in a Facebook post Thursday.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Country Hills Fire Department announces the passing of Lieutenant Kevin McMorrow yesterday evening in a tragic off duty accident," the department said in the post.

McMorrow, a resident of South Bound Brook, was killed when his motorcycle collided with an SUV driven by a 28-year-old woman at about 9 p.m. in the area of Main Street in Lebanon and Rt. 22 east in Clinton Township, according to NJ Advance Media.

According to the fire department, McMorrow joined the Country Hills Fire Department in  December of 2003 and climbed the ranks to 2nd Assistant Chief. He also served for as a trustee on the department’s executive board fr many years, fire officials said.

"Kevin was a devoted father, friend, son, brother, and had a love for cars," firefighters said on Facebook.

According to the fire department, a viewing for McMorrow will take place Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Bruce Van Arsdale Funeral Home in Somerville. A funeral will take place Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St John's Episcopal Church in Somerville with burial to follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Bridgewater.
