New Jersey holds its gubernatorial primary on Tuesday but barring an upset of epic proportions the results are already known.

Incumbent Chris Christie is expected to win the GOP primary over Atlantic City lawyer Seth Grossman. State Senator Barbara Buono will likely top Troy Webster, an aide to East Orange Mayor Robert L. Bowser on the Democrat side to set up the fall’s likely battle for the Statehouse.

Christie and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno spent Saturday campaigning across the state making stops in 9 of the state’s 21 counties.

Guadagno was in southern Jersey on Saturday morning, visiting GOP offices in several counties there before heading north for similar visits. Christie started his day in Burlington County and then stopped by diners in East Brunswick and Westfield before concluding his day with a rally in Morris Plains.

Buono campaigned in Bayonne, MIlburn and West New York on Saturday and in Edison and  Asbury Park on Sunday at the city’s pride parade.

During a campaign appearance in West New York, Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez (D-Hudson) accused Christie of using Superstorm Sandy recovery for political gain. “He’s riding the coattails of the hurricane. That was his job to respond,” Jimenez told a crowd according to the Star Ledger. Christie has come under criticism for appearing in TV commercials touting the Shore’s recovery from the storm paid for with FEMA funds.

In a statement, Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak responded by saying, “To reduce the breadth of Sandy’s destruction to a partisan political attack is crass and wildly insulting to tens of thousands of families and business owners who suffered through and continue to recover from the storm.”

Newark Mayor Cory Booker believes that Buono can overcome a 30-point deficit in the polls to beat Christie in November. He tells the Huffington Post that New Jersey Democrats need to unite behind Buono in November and just by sheer numbers she can win.

“At the end of the day we have a state that more Democrats and Republicans,” Booker told HuffPost. “This is up to them and not a few people.”
