MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP —A 67-year-old woman and her 23-year-old son were arrested Tuesday after police found 2.5 pounds of marijuana, weapons, drug harvesting and packaging materials in their home.

Joseph W. Schweitzer and Karen M. Schweitzerof Manchester are facing drug-related charges following an investigation by the Manchester Police Department's Narcotics Enforcement Team into possible marijuana distribution at the residence.

On Tuesday at about 10 a.m., police executed a search warrant at the Schweitzer's home in the Whiting section of the township. While searching the home and property, police found evidence of a marijuana growing operation, Manchester police said in a statement. Investigators also located two "long guns" and a high capacity rifle magazine. In addition, Manchester police say, they seized 2.5 pounds of marijuana and "paraphernalia associated with the growing, harvesting, packaging and distribution of marijuana."

Joseph Schweitzer was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession over 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with possession of a high capacity magazine. He was transported to Ocean County Jail on $25,000 bail with a 10 percent option.

Karen Schweitzer was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia but was later released on a complaint summons, according to police.
