Commuters planning to take NJ Transit buses to and from downtown Newark during this evening's rush hour could see delays of about 45 minutes as a "Black Lives Matter" protest blocks traffic near Penn Station.

According to NJ Transit, bus routes 1, 25 and 34 are subject to delays "due to the moving demonstration in the Newark Penn Station area."

The protest is causing a stir in the city's downtown area as well as on social media. According to some Twitter users, protesters are shouting "No justice, no peace," and some are lying on the ground. The demonstration is taking place near Route 21, a busy roadway near Penn Station.

In photos on social media, protesters lines the street, some holding hands and carrying signs.
