New Jersey veterans are being honored with free train rides, coffee and appetizers for Veterans Day.

NJ Transit is offering free rides to active and retired military personnel throughout its system on Wednesday with no restrictions

“It is a privilege to salute our nation’s veterans and active members and to honor their service by offering a ride on our transit system," NJ Transit Executive Director Veronique “Ronnie” Hakim said in a statement.

Riders taking advantage of the offer should select "senior/disabled" when purchasing a ticket through a ticket vending machine or using NJ Transit's app. A valid military ID can be shown when purchasing a ticket in person.

Wawa expects to give away 250,000 free cups of coffee of all sizes for veterans, active military and their family members at all locations on Wednesday. The convenience chain will also put together coffee care packages at its Wawa, Penn. offices.

"We've been providing troops abroad with a taste of home through our coffee care packages, and we are passionate about continuing this tradition for years to come," Wawa CEO and President Chris Gheysens said in a statement.

Starbucks is also offering a free tall (12 oz) hot coffee to veterans, active duty members and their spouses on Wednesday.

The Adventure Aquarium in Camden offers a special $10 ticket on Wednesday for active and retired military.

Several other national chains are honoring veterans with free products on Wednesday.

  • Applebee's, and Chili's: A free meal to vets and active military from a special menu
  • Outback Streakhouse, Olive Garden and Red Robin: free select appetizers for vets and active military
  • TGIFridays:and Texas Roadhouse:  free lunch from a special menu for veterans and active military personnel.
