An Amber Alert issued in New York State late Sunday night for a child taken by his father has been cancelled.

Jonathan Lawrence and his 3-month-old infant son Steven Ristick were found safe in Union City. Charges were pending against Lawrence.

Lawrence "forcibly" entered a home in Greenport near Albany and took his Ristick,  according to the alert, assaulting the child's grandfather. Police say he got into a blue Dodge minivan with Connecticut license plates and believed he was heading for New Jersey.

Lawrence is described as a 200-lb, 6-foot,1-inch tall white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is said to be wearing a red and blue puffy down jacket and blue jogging pants.  He has a tattoo that reads "Canadien" on his left arm, and a tribal design on his right bicep.

ABC 7 reports Lawrence brought his son to the Union City police station after police contacted him.
