WINSLOW TOWNSHIP — State Police were able to save the life of one of two horses that ran onto the Atlantic City Expressway early Monday morning.

The horses ran onto the highway around 3 a.m.in WInslow Township near Route 73. One was killed after being struck along the right shoulder, according to police. But officers were able to corral a second horse, which was not injured.

Police said the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was not charged

The owner of the horses was located and notified, according to police, who said they are still investigating how the horses wound up on the highway.
