According to Tom River police, the pair entered the store on the eastbound side of Route 37 near Harding Avenue around 3 a.m. and demanded $1,000 in cash via a handwritten note that read, "Let's make this easy." The cashier refused to hand over the money and the two took off in a 2003 BMW.

Within an hour, Toms River Police say two Ocean County Sheriff's Department officers on a supplemental patrol in Seaside Heights spotted the car at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Ocean Terrace and notified Toms River Police. The driver of the car, Igor Gonzalez, 19, of Mendham was arrested along with a 17-year-old male passenger from Toms River, who police say made the demand for cash.

Police say they also found marijuana in the car along with 300 Xanax pills.

Gonzalez is being held on $75,000 bail at the Ocean County Jail while the 17-year-old is at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center.
