The Toms River North boys and Point Boro girls have been awarded the top seeds for the 29th Annual WOBM Christmas Classic.  The seeds and pairings were announced during the annual “TipOff Brunch” today at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center.  More than 250 players, coaches, tournament officials and guests attended the breakfast which was emceed by Kevin Williams, the Founder and Director of the 32-team tournament.  Among those in attendance was Frank P. Roselli, the Superintendent of Toms River Regional Schools, who has hosted the event in their Pine Belt Arena since 2003.  Cincinnati Reds rookie standout Todd Frazier, who played in the tournament from 2000-20003, served as guest speaker.

The North Mariners get the top spot and will open up on Sunday, December 23 against Brick in what will be the last of eight boys games played that day.  Newcomers Christian Brothers Academy and Freehold Township were seeded 2nd and 3rd and will face Barnegat and Central in their opening round games.  #4 seed Manchester will oppose Toms River East while defending champion and fifth seed Jackson Memorial begins defense of their title against Red Bank Catholic.  Other first round matchups have #6 St. Rose facing Lacey, 7th seed Toms River South battles Wall and 8th rated Point Boro takes on Brick Memorial.

On the girl’s side Point Boro, led by Boston College recruit Kelly Hughes begins its quest for the title on Saturday, December 22nd with a first-round game against Lacey.  7-time champion Rumson-Fair Haven is the second seed and meets Barnegat while 3rd seed Jackson Memorial opens with Ocean.  Toms River East gets the fourth seed and an opening round date with Manchester while defending champion Manasquan is ranked fifth and opposes Brick Memorial.  In other pairings on the opening day of the tournament it will be #6 Freehold Township against Shore, 7th ranked Toms River North plays Jackson Liberty and 8th seed Wall meets Toms River South.

The tournament features 52 games over 7 days with the championship games scheduled for Sunday, December 30.
