Police sources tell Townsquare Media the suspect entered the QuickChek store on Route 33 at Jumping Brook Road in Neptune around 3:20 a.m. to buy a soda but did not have enough money.

He pulled a gun on the clerk and then went outside the store as the clerk called police who backed off when the suspect put the gun into his mouth. He then fled on foot.

Wall Police, assisting Neptune with the search, describe the suspect on their Facebook page as a tall white male, thin build, blonde hair with a tattoo on his neck. He was last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans and considered armed and dangerous.

In a statement, Wall Police say they are not sure if the suspect is still in the Wall/Neptune area but are still searching for him, focusing their search in the northern portion of the area.
