We knew we would have to pay for the extended summer weather sooner or later and less than a week after dealing with sunshine and temperatures in the 80’s the payback begins today.

For the next several days we’re looking at clouds, rain and wind and probably won’t see the sun until sometime early next week.   The wet weather is expected to have a major impact on the high school football schedule this weekend with 12 games set to be played Friday night and another five on Saturday.  The only plus is that 12 shore teams have the weekend off due to byes.

Southern Regional is one of those teams with no game which will allow highly recruited receiver Mike Gesicki to make his final official college visit.  The 6’6 senior will be heading out to Penn State for the Nittany Lions game against Michigan and sometime within the next week or two Gesicki is expected to make his college choice known among Penn State, Ohio State, Rutgers and Wisconsin.

If you want to get a sense for what the recruiting process is like for an athlete tune in to tonight’s Investors Bank High School Football Show on 105.7 The Hawk and ShoreSportsNetwork.com beginning at 7pm.  Mike and his father will be among our guests talking about what it’s been like on athlete and family.  Other guests on tonight’s show will be Barnegat coach Rob Davis and his senior linebacker Greg Moran along with coach Ed Gurrieri of Manalapan and his Rutgers-bound receiver Saeed Blacknall.

The show is broadcast live from Baker’s Water Street Grill in Toms River.

Bad news for those planning on attending the Jonas Brothers concert Sunday at the Pine Belt Arena on the campus of Toms River North.  The band has cancelled its entire fall tour which was scheduled to begin tonight after having what is being called “creative differences.”

There are reports the three brothers had a major blowup last weekend over the musical direction of the tour and some believe that they might even break up.  The Toms River concert was to be the third on a 19 city tour.   Ticketmaster will make refunds on all tickets purchased.

I just saw a story that Jos. A Bank is trying to buy out Men’s Wearhouse and my first thought was what would happen to the guy who says “you’re gonna like the way you look” on those radio and TV commercials.  Then I learned that George Zimmer who is that guy was fired over the summer. He was the co-founder of Men’s Wearhouse.   I don’t really care anymore.
