According to information posted by Chief Andrew Kudrick on the Howell PD Facebook page, a 911 call arrived from Cherry Tree Plaza at about 10:55 AM Thursday.

Corporal Matthew Bishop was first to arrive, finding the victim bleeding out, his leg severed, and other traumatic injuries setting in. Bishop learned that the truck was moving in reverse when impact occurred.

Bishop stanched the bleeding by applying a tourniquet to the victim's thigh, and Howell EMS EMT Ryan Gerrity applied a second tourniquet to his arm.

Police rushed him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was admitted in serious condition.

Preliminary investigations find no fault on the part of the driver, Kudrick said.
