Powerball numbers announced

If you played tonight's $500 million Powerball drawing, now is the time to check your tickets. The drawing took place just before 11 p.m.

The winning numbers are : 25, 11, 54, 13 and 39. The Powerball number is 19. Lottery officials say there are winning tickets in North Carolina, Puerto Rico and Texas.

Tonight's drawing marks the fifth largest lottery prize in U.S. history.

Judith Drucker, chief communications officer of the New Jersey Lottery said the increase in the jackpot has attracted more customers than ever before. Ticket sales on Sunday and Monday were the highest in company history.

How NJ residents would spend their Powerball winnings

It has been nearly two years since a Powerball jackpot has grown as large as Wednesday's estimated $500 million prize. That time, it was a $590.5 million jackpot won in May 2013 in Florida, a prize that ranked third on the all-time list, the Associated Press reported.

New Jersey had its first Powerball winner in 2010 months after the tickets became available in the state.
