Supporters and opponents of a plan to convert a home in northern Toms River to a religious school will have a chance to comment, but it won't be at Thursday night's meeting of the township zoning board of adjustment.

Word from township officials today indicates that it's still on the agenda, but only to establish a date and place large enough to accomodate the anticipated crowd.

Chabad Jewish Center seeks approval to open a school at 2001 Church Road. Surrounding home owners who oppose it cite concerns over traffic impacts, and whether the conversion to a tax-exempt status sets a standard for replication, potentially placing an even higher property-tax burden on residents.

Two calls by WOBM News to the attorney representing the applicant have gone unreturned.

Township officials will place notice of the venue and date on the township web page.
