Report: Marathon Bombing Suspect Left Note in Boat [VIDEO]

CBS News reports that in the note  Dzhokhar Tsarnaev claimed responsibility for the bombings on April 15 at the finish line of the Boston Marathon that killed three and injured hundreds.

In the note he wrote:

  • He did not mourn his older brother Tamerlan
  • Tamerlan was a martyr now in paradise
  • Dzhokar expected to join him there
  • The bombings were retribution for what the U.S. did to Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq
  • The Boston victims were collateral damage, like Muslims are in U.S. wars
  • And, when you attack one Muslim, you attack all Muslims

The wall that Dzhokhar wrote his note on in pen was full of bullet holes from shots fired by police at the boat when they thought he had another bomb. The note is also the first indication of a motive behind the bombings.

Dzhokhar is currently recovering from his injuries at the the Federal Medical Center Devens at the former Fort Devens army base 40 miles to the west of Boston in Ayer, Massachusetts.
