Three people were shot early Wednesday morning at the Ramada Inn in Toms River during a New Year's party.

Toms River Police say they responded to a call to 911 about a shooting in the rear section of the the hotel located on Route 9 at Route 70 at the Lakewood border at 12:55 a.m.

There was a lot of confusion and screaming as police, aided by officers from Lakewood and Brick, cleared the area of around 30 people and searched each room for victims and suspects. Four or five people were seen climbing out of a second story hotel room window onto a roof. Police discovered one victim lying on the floor with a gunshot wound along with a second victim in the same room.

One victim was flown via medical helicopter while a second victim was hospitalized via ambulance according to the Ocean County Police, Fire & & EMS Facebook page. Police say a third victim was taken to Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood by private vehicle.

As of Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. one victim is still in the operating room, a second is in critical condition and the condition of the third victim is unavailable. None of the victims has been identified.

Toms River Police would not elaborate on the status of a gunman to Townsquare Media.   ABC 7 reports police are looking for a gold Mercedes 500.
