Tyshaun M. Jackson, aka "Bailey," 23, is charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting of Waymon Young, whose last known address was in Lakewood, according to the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

Jackson is also charged with three related counts of weapons possession.

Investigators said that the incident became apparent Saturday, when Young drove himself to Community Medical Center and collapsed, with a gunshot wound in the chest. He was moved to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The car Young used, bearing Maryland license plates, was impounded for examination. Jackson Township police took Jackson into custody quietly late Sunday afternoon.

While authorities try to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting, Jackson remains in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. He was given no option for release on payment of 10 percent.
