According to a notice on the Jackson School District website, a lockdown at the Holman Elementary, McAuliffe Middle and Jackson Liberty High Schools has been completely  lifted for all students. Buses will pick up students first from Jackson Liberty and then from the McAuliffe and Holman schools as soon as possible. Parents may pick up students.

School officials says they are releasing students to their buses as quickly as possible but cannot offer a time when they will get home.

The Ocean County Signal reports a "person of interest" has been detained and the scene completely cleared with all roads open. A home in the area was struck by gunfire according to Jackson Police but offered no details.

School officials confirm that at no point were students endangered and that no shots were fired inside or near the buildings.
