Periods of light to moderate rain will push across the Garden State throughout the daytime hours Wednesday.

Here are your weather headlines for Wednesday, November 9, 2016...

Somewhat Wet Wednesday

We're not only waking up to election news on this Wednesday morning, but some rain is beginning to push into New Jersey. It may turn into a pretty soggy day for the state, as bands of light to moderate rain precede a cold front later Wednesday. With forecast rainfall totals up to a quarter-inch to half-inch, the rain won't be heavy nor a drought-buster.

The combination of rain and clouds will keep temperatures in the 55 to 60 degree range Wednesday.

Rain should taper from west to east Wednesday evening. As the aforementioned cold front passes, clouds will begin to clear and a gusty wind to 30 mph will briefly pick up overnight.

Fairly Quiet Thursday and Friday

By mid-morning Thursday, the wind should subside and we'll be left with a seasonably cool day, with highs in the mid 50s. Skies will range from partly to mostly sunny.

Friday will start quiet too, with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near 60. But another cold front approaches...

Chilly Weekend

Sometime Friday (forecast models are still wishy-washy about precisely when), yet another November cold front will push through New Jersey. This front look quite moisture-starved, so I think we'll stay dry, with just a few clouds. However, winds will kick up dramatically as the front passes, with gusts possibly as fierce as 40 or 50 mph. That wind will carry much colder air our way for the upcoming weekend.

How cold? Saturday morning low temperatures will probably fall into the 20 for much of New Jersey. Saturday afternoon's high temperatures will be limited to the upper 40s - about 10 degrees below normal. Sunday will recover a bit to the mid 50s.

At least the chilly weekend will bring plenty of sunshine and lighter winds.
