Struggling Sandy Families Launch Web Campaign

New Jersey residents struggling to rebuild after Superstorm Sandy launched the website Finishthejob.com today calling on Governor Christie to get funding moving to families.

They also attended Governor Chris Christie's press conference in Belmar raising up signs to shine a light on the difficulties families are having rebuilding. The key source of their angst is the states Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation program, also known as RREM.

The group's press release characterizes the governor as combative and someone who's turned a deaf ear to their plight.

"Unfortunately the Governor went through his bullying routine and tried to shout down a concerned citizen rather than addressing the pressing reality of the more than 5,000 families that are still waiting for the Governor to deliver on his promise and get them back in their homes after Superstorm Sandy," said Jim Keady, small business owner and member of the New Jersey Organizing Project."

The group's press release goes on to say that "Lisa Stevens, New Jersey Organizing Project member from Little Egg Harbor who held a sign reading 'I'm stuck in RREM, get the money moving' said, "He needs to finish the job. He told us to do what we needed to do to get back in our homes, and then the RREM program came out. I was accepted into the program almost a year ago and still haven't seen any funding or started any construction on my home."
