A parent contacted school administration officials and  WOBM News via email her concerns that a flyer posted “in an open area  in the 1144 Hooper Avenue daycare” (the offices of the Toms River school department) about a fundraiser for 3 candidates may have used school resources to be printed and distributed.

There was also no indication on the flyer what organization or candidate posted the flyer or paid for it.

After the flyer was mentioned on WOBM newscasts and the flyer posted on the station’s website, Roselli reposnded by email that “the administration played no role in the creation or distribution of this fundraising flyer.” Roselli said he would investigate the matter.

Friday afternoon, Roselli issued a second statement via email.

To All,  At this point in time I have confirmed that the flyers in question were created and distributed by one of our unions. The target audience for these flyers was union employees. The distribution site for these flyers was a location restricted to union employees only. I will continue to follow up on this matter, however at this point I can unequivocally confirm that no taxpayers dollars were used in this matter and that the administration did not promote electioneering in our school district.
