Yesterday’s Hometown View talked about the problems associated with the Rutgers football program and how head coach Kyle Flood was skating on thin ice. That ice is now cracking following Monday’s arrest of star wide receiver Leonte Carroo on simple assault charges associated with domestic violence following an incident that took place outside the Hale Center Saturday night after the Scarlet Knights game with Washington State.

The arrest by Rutgers University police comes a day after Carroo was suspended indefinitely by Flood, who on Monday received a complete vote of confidence from Athletic Director Julie Hermann. You know how those sometimes go.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has a lot to smile about these days even as he recovers from two hip replacement surgeries.  On the field Jones’ team rallied to win their opener Sunday night over the Giants and off the field the Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the world for the first time since 2007.

Forbes Magazine is out with its annual rankings of sports teams and their value and the Cowboys top the list with an estimated worth of $4 billion.  It’s the ninth straight year they have topped the list of NFL teams but they also surpassed Real Madrid (soccer) as the most valuable franchise in all of sports.

The New England Patriots and New York Yankees are tied for third with a value of $3.2 billion with FC Barcelona rounding out the top five. The Giants are the #4 among NFL teams ($2.8 billion) with the Jets sixth and the Eagles 9th.  The Buffalo Bills are at the bottom of the list, worth an estimated $1.4 billion.
