Authorities in Eatontown are searching for two men who held up a store at gunpoint on Monday afternoon, taking off with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.

The incident was captured on surveillance video from inside Aaron’s Gold Shop at the corner of Route 35 and Clinton Avenue.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m.  The two men, described as black males in their late 30s, walked into the store trying to sell a ring.  They walked around the shop looking at display cases and trying to blend in as regular customers.  The clerk had offered a specific price to buy the ring from them when one of the men pulled out a silver handgun from a bag and threatened to use it.

 

Police tell WOBM News the other man jumped over the counter and took the clerk into the back room of the store, where he was tied up.  They also placed tape over his mouth.  Unaware cameras were rolling in the store, the men then moved to the register where they took an undisclosed amount of money and then took various jewelry items.

They then ran out of the store heading on foot towards Clinton Avenue.  Anyone with information should call the Eatontown Police Department at 732-542-0100.
