• One of the nicest parts about a holiday weekend with Monday off is the following week is only four days. Does that mean there’s no hump day?

• Longtime Asbury Park Press sportswriter Steve Falk summed it up best last night on Twitter when he tweeted, “being a Rangers fan is forever living on the edge and dealing with anxiety.” Truthfully I don’t know who’s going to crack first…Henrik Lundqvist or my wife Jane.

• If only they could figure out a way to get some of the water from Texas to California it would solve a lot of problems.

• After watching “Nurse Jackie” last night I now have no saved programs on my DVR for the first time since September.

• Toms River’s Todd Frazier has an excellent chance of earning his second straight All-Star game appearance which would be extra special because the game will be played in Cincinnati’s home park on July 14th. Frazier will likely have to beat out Matt Carpenter of St. Louis and Cubs rookie Kris Bryant to earn the starting nod and he seems a solid bet to return to the Home Run Derby.

• Frazier’s alma mater Toms River South was one of three Ocean County teams knocked out of the NJSIAA Baseball Tournament Tuesday. In the sectional semifinals the Indians fell to Mainland while Toms River North was eliminated by Williamstown and defending Group 4 champion Jackson Memorial dropped a 13-inning heartbreaker to Old Bridge. The Jaguars are still alive in the Shore Conference Tournament and will face RBC in the semifinals today.

• The softball teams from Donovan Catholic and Pinelands both won Tuesday in the state tournament and will be back in action Friday. The Wildcats will host Delsea in the South Jersey Group 3 final while the Griffins visit Notre Dame in the Non-Public South “A” semifinals.

• Does anyone really miss Brian Williams as the anchor of NBC’s Nightly News?

• I’m reading “Killing Kennedy, The End of Camelot” which is a non-fiction book co-written by Bill O’Reilly. If half of what is in the book about JFK’s extra marital trysts is true then it’s no wonder he had back problems.
