Three Brick Township teens accused of beating a fourth

A teenaged Brick Township girl undergoes surgery after a beating in Herbertsville Park, and three other girls face aggravated assault charges for allegedly attacking her.

Officers who responded to a report of a fight on the 500 block of Colorado Avenue at about 7 PM Monday were told of the attack, and learned that the victim's mother brought her to Ocean Medical Center.

Police said that the girl sustained nose and right-eye injuries severe enough to warrant surgery.

They were told that the suspects dashed through the woods in the park behind the Greenwood Loop neighborhood, police said.

During the ensuing two days, Detectives Thomas Cooney, Kenneth Steinberg and Timothy McCarthy identified the three suspects, charged them, and released them to their parents to await hearings in Ocean County Family Court.
