Except for an area of storms moving across Burlington and Ocean counties today’s round of thunderstorms are done but more are expected on Tuesday.

Strong storms developed along the Delaware River and moved east bringing lightning, hail, and high winds with heavy rain falling at the rate of 2 inches -per-hour in some areas. One person was struck by lightning from one of the storms earlier in Delaware County, Pennsylvania at the Glenn Mills School in Thornbury Township according to WCAU TV, which reports over 1,000 lightning strikes from storms in a half-hour period Monday afternoon.

A Thunderstorm Watch for most of New Jersey was lifted early. Hot and humid weather will be back on Tuesday with temperatures in the 90s and increase in humidity meaning more strong storms will develop.

Tuesday will also be an Air Quality Action Day as determined by the New Jersey Department Of Environmental Protection with the ozone at unhealthy levels for the young, elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma. They should avoid strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon and evening hours on Tuesday
