Storms Will Bring Cooler Temps [AUDIO]
Thunderstorms headed for New Jersey Tuesday night will bring spring-like weather in the wake of a few recent days of summer-like temperatures.
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central and south Jersey as a line of storms with 60 MPH winds, lightning and possible one-inch hail makes its way east. Heavy rain will likely fall quickly creating minor flooding on some roadways. Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington, Atlantic, Camden, Gloucester, Salem, Cumberland and Cape May counties are all under the warning until 6:45 p.m. A Watch is in effect until 12 midnight.
JCP&L reports almost 1,500 outages in its service area mostly in Millstone and in Burlington County on its outage map. Over 4,200 PSEG customers in Passaic County are without power mostly in Clifton with almost 3,000 in the dark in Burlington County according to its outage map. Several hundred Atlantic City Electric customers are without power as well.
The start of the Phillies game with the Colorado Rockies at Citizens Bank Park was delayed because of the rain.
The storms are part of a cold front, according to meteorologist Alan Kasper, that will bring in cooler weather with temperatures back to the 60s on Wednesday and Thursday.
