A little of this and a little of that and courtesy of Fantasy Island Amusement Park some warm thoughts this morning. It’s just 18 days to Daylight Savings Time, 25 days until spring begins, 96 days to Memorial Day and 117 days until summer begins. We can make it!

Tom Tarver will be back on the sidelines this fall for the first time in more than a decade after being named this week as the head football coach at Donovan Catholic High School. Tarver was the head coach at Manalapan from 2000 to 2003 and led the Braves into a state sectional final in his last season before becoming an administrator in the Jackson Township School District.

Shore Conference football followers will remember Tarver as an outstanding quarterback at Jackson where he set numerous school records before graduating in 1987. He would later go on to play at Rutgers University where he was a two-year starter. At Donovan Catholic he will replace Dan Duddy, who stepped down following this past season to focus on his other responsibilities at the school.

It would seem to be just a matter of time before Republican John Kasich drops out of the presidential race but the Ohio Governor made it clear Wednesday he is not getting out and instead believes he’s the only candidate who can beat Donald Trump for the GOP nod. Despite poor finishes recently in South Carolina and Nevada Kasich said his campaign is focused on upcoming primaries and those calling for him to drop out of the race should just “chill out.” It is interesting that I’ve had many people tell me Kasich is their favorite among the choices we have for the White House but at the same time they all agree he can’t win.
