The Ortley Beach Voters and Taxpayers Association is ecstatic the federally-funded Army Corps of Engineers Protective Dune Project will be able to move forward next year, once Toms River Township legally obtains the 16 remaining easements from beachfront property owners.

The group's Treasurer, Steve Sherrill, tells WOBM News about 80% of the easements are already signed. He says while some hold-outs in other towns will continue refusing to sign regardless of what they have to go through legally, he is confident all of the waterfront property owners in Ortley Beach will cooperate before litigation is necessary.

The Township Council Tuesday night gave final approval of an ordinance to take legal action against property owners still refusing to sign over their easements through condemnation.
