The suspect who robbed a Toms River gas station Monday morning remains outside the grip of the law this afternoon. Authorities have a description that they hope will jog someone's memory and lead to an arrest.

The Lukoil station at 1820 Hooper Avenue, in the Silverton section near the Brick Township border, was held up at about 10:33 AM Monday, police said.

An attendant was changing receipt tape at a gas pump when a man walked up behind him, demanded and got cash from him, police said.

After demanding more and being told that there was none, he whipped out a knife with his right hand and slashed the attendant through the front of his shirt and again on his left arm, police said.

The thief ran off in a northerly direction on Hinds Road, which parallels Hooper, while the attendant was treated for superficial wounds with no hospitalization, police said.

They're looking for a white male, with a fair complexion, about 25 to 30 years of age, of medium build, about six feet in height, and clean-shaven. At the time of the robbery he wore a white tee shirt, white shorts and a blue ball cap, police said.

Detective Robert O'Neill is handling the investigation and can be reached at 732-349-0150, Ext. 1255.
