Toms River man killed in Jackson crash

This morning's one-car crash in Jackson that took the life of a Toms River man remains under investigation this afternoon.

Richard Ulis, 59, was alone in the 2009 Ford Flex that drifted across Cassville Road (Route 571) and into a tree near 182 Cassville Road at about 5:11 AM, according to the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato. He was pronounced dead at the site at 5:39.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the vehicle to leave the northbound side of the road, veer across the median and off the southbound side.
