Toms River Motorcycle Crash Blamed on Ground hog

A motorcycle swerving to avoid a ground hog on Route 70 in Toms River Sunday, skidded on its side, injuring the driver and passenger, according to Township police. 

John and Maria Mura of Toms River were both thrown from the Harley Davidson when the animal darted out in front of them as they traveled west on the highway, according to authorities.

John Mura was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment, while Maria Mura was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River.

There's no word on their conditions.
