The "Miss New Jersey," a Statue Cruises boat, was carrying nearly 500 passengers and 9 crew members.

Everyone was able to get off the boat and continue their visit. The ferry is now back to a marina at Liberty State Park under its own power.

Service was suspended for 15 minutes between New York City and Liberty Island.

“As the official ferry provider to Liberty and Ellis Islands, the safety and well-being of all our passengers is our number one priority,” said Mike Burke, COO of Statue Cruises in a statement. “We are relieved that there were no serious injuries and we are working with the National Park Service to identify the cause of the hard landing. Statue Cruises is proud to safely provide ferry service for nearly 12 million passenger trips each year.”

The Coast Guard reports 3 minor injuries but there are reports of more. They will also inspect the boat for mechanical issues. Coast Guard spokesman Jetta Disco says Coast Guard investigators will test crew members for drugs and alcohol and look for possible environmental or mechanical problems that may have led to the hard landing.

No pollution spilled into the water, and the vessel isn't taking on any water.
