Octavius Jenkins, 41, of Lakewood, and Joseph Smith, 35, of Manchester, were arrested October 20 on Route 9 in Toms River, according to the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

Detectives in the Prosecutor's Special Operations Group also seized the 2006 Mercedes Benz driven by Jenkins and the 1997 Ford Taurus driven by Smith. Authorities believe that Jenkins used the car to conduct drug sales.

Local and county investigators using a no-knock warrant searched Jenkins's dwelling in Lakewood. They uncovered about 27 grams of crack cocaine, 20 grams of the powdered variety, and $2,550 in cash, authorities said.

Jenkins was jailed in the Ocean County lockup in Toms River on charges of cocaine possession and distribution, possession of more than a half-ounce of cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His bail was set at $250,000, cash.

Smith was released on a summons charging him with cocaine possession.
