Two people died and four others were hospitalized after their boat capsized in Manasquan Inlet on Friday afternoon.

According to ABC News, the private pontoon boat with seven people aboard overturned  at 1:30 pm. The Coast Guard, The New Jersey State Police and a good Samaritan on scene assisted in the recovery of the seven men onboard. Two of the boaters suffered cardiac arrest and were later pronounced dead.

Four of the men were taken to Ocean Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and a fifth man refused medical treatment, according a statement by the New Jersey State Police:

“Although the cause of the vessel capsizing is currently under investigation, the strong currents at the time of the incident may have been a contributing factor. All seven occupants on the vessel are males but their identities are not being released at this time. The New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Unit Central, Fatal Accident Unit and Major Crime Unit responded to assist at the scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing."

The two victims who died were identified as Alex Osadchy, 66, and Grigory Klokishner, 74, both of Philadelphia.

The statement noted that the NJSP Marine Services Bureau, NJSP Aviation, U.S. Coast Guard, and NYPD had assisted in the recovery effort.
