Two people are being treated for injuries after a Community Services van strikes a garbage collector and garbage truck on Route 571 in Manchester. Township Police say incident happened at around 9 O'clock Wednesday morning while the Central Jersey Waste and Recycling Inc. crew was in the right lane in front of a residence near Beacon Street. The van sustained significant front end damage after striking the rear of the garbage truck.

The garbage collector, Nathaniel Murray Jr., 52 of Trenton was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center along with van passenger Cassandra Mollock, 77 of Manchester. Murray is listed in stable condition but Mollock is listed in critical condition.

The van's driver James Johnson, 66 of Manchester sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Community Medical Center. The driver of the garbage truck was uninjured.

Manchester Township Police, the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Criminalistics Investigation Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office have launched an investigation.
